Magickal Uses

Thyme is burned to attract good health and is also worn for this purpose. It is also used in healing spells.

Placed beneath the pillow, it ensures restful sleep and a pleasant lack of nightmares. Worn, thyme aids in developing psychic powers, and women who wear a sprig of thyme in their hair make themselves irresistible.

Thyme is also a purifactory herb; the Greeks burned it in their temples to purify them and so thyme is often burned prior to magickal rituals to cleanse the area. In spring a magickal cleansing bath composed of marjoram and thyme is taken to ensure all the sorrows and ills of the past are removed from the person.

Thyme is also carried and smelled to give courage and energy. If you wear it you will be able to see fairies.

Medicinal Uses

Parts used: leaves & aerial portions

Thyme is a very strong anti-fungal & anti-bacterial. Because of the anti-bacterial qualities of thyme it has been used in the lungs for whooping cough & asthma. It also can be used for a nervine for chest spasms.

Side effects: Thyme does have some diuretic qualities & can irritate the kidneys when taken in excess.

As with any medicine, use care and knowledge when taking herbs. Their medicine can be strong and effective when used properly. For dosage and side effects seek the advice of a health care practitioner.

Wild Thyme Pasta Salad

1 package spiral pasta
1 jar artichoke hearts
Sliced tomatoes & mushrooms
Wild Thyme seasoning to taste

Boil pasta. Let cool then add sliced tomatoes, mushrooms & artichoke hearts. Mix well & add the seasoning. Let sit in the refrigerator for a few hours.
Serve chilled.
