Magickal Uses

Cones from pine trees are carried to increase fertility and to have vigorous old age. A pine cone gathered on Midsummer (still retaining its seeds) is an awesome magickal object.

Pine needles are burned during the winter months to purify and cleanse the house. Scattered on the floor they drive away evil, and when burned, exorcise the area of negativity. They are also used in cleansing baths. Pine needles are burned to reverse and send back spells.

Branches of the pine placed above or over the bed keeps sickness far away (or, if they weren't placed in time, aid the ill). In Japan, it was customary to place a pine branch over the door of the house to ensure continual joy within, for the leaves are evergreen.

A cross made of pine needles placed before the fireplace keeps evil from entering through it. Pine is also used in money spells and its sawdust is a base for incenses.

Medicinal Uses

The oil can be inhaled in cases of bronchitis and even in some cases of asthma. As a tea, pine may be helpful in the internal treatment of arthritis and rheumatism. Pine also has antiseptic properties and can be steeped in boiling water then added to a bath to help aid the healing of minor cuts and scrapes. Pine in the bath may also be rejuvinating and help ease fatigue.

As with any medicine, use care and knowledge when taking herbs. Their medicine can be strong and effective when used properly. For dosage and side effects seek the advice of a health care practitioner.
